Psychologist Position

The Hudson Valley Center for Cognitive Therapy (HVCCT), a leading clinical practice in Rockland County, NY is currently seeking a psychologist. The position is part-time with a possibility of becoming full time, if desired. The HVCCT is located in Nyack, NY, approximately one mile from the Tappan Zee Bridge and 25 miles north of Manhattan.

The HVCCT provides cognitive-behavioral therapy for adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families. Our clinical staff is experienced in the following areas: Depression/Mood Disorders, Anxiety (Panic, Social Phobia, GAD, OCD, PTSD, Health Anxiety), Bereavement/Grief Counseling, Impulse Control Disorders, Marital and Family Therapy, and Child and Adolescent Disorders.  The staff meet regularly for a peer supervision group. The work environment at the HVCCT is supportive and collegial.

Qualifications: Applicants should have a) experience providing individual psychotherapy; b) training and expertise in cognitive-behavioral therapy; c) a NY license (or will be licensed within the next 6 months); and d) high initiative, an ability to work autonomously, and excellent organizational skills.

The Department of Psychiatry at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City is pleased to announce an opportunity for a full time psychologist in our HIV ambulatory clinics.  Responsibilities include both direct and supervisory involvement in outpatient evaluations and ongoing psychological management of patients with and without co-occurring disorders. The PARTNERS Program at St. John’s University seeks a qualified clinician to provide empirically-supported assessment and therapy for traumatized, multi-cultural youth, and their caregivers in traditional and non-traditional outpatient settings. Position is part of a multi-year, federally funded grant (Project CONNECT) to evaluate evidence-based practices for children exposed to violence. Project CONNECT utilizes culturally adapted cognitive-behavioral therapy for Latino and African-American children who have experienced physical abuse/assault, sexual abuse/assault, dating violence, and/or witnessed domestic violence. The clinician will work with families at the PARTNERS Program clinic at the St. John’s University Center for Psychological Services and community-based sites in Queens, NY.

Today Buick and the GM Foundation announced the launch of the 2012 Buick Achievers Scholarship Program for the 2012-13 school year.  Among the largest scholarships awarded over multiple years, we expanded the program even further this year to include current undergraduate students, as well as high school seniors and graduates.

The program is dedicated to assisting outstanding students interested in studying science, engineering, technology, design, marketing and other related fields, and who lack the financial means to reach their academic goals.  Special consideration also is given to students who are military personnel, veterans or their dependents, as well as women and other minority groups.
