Camp Galaxy!

The American Group Psychotherapy Association ( AGPA) has been selected as the recipient of the 2012 Social Responsibility Award by the New York Society of Association Executives (NYSAE). NYSAE annually recognizes an association for an extraordinary program that goes above and beyond its primary mission to address community concerns and contribute to societal well-being.
AGPA is receiving the award for its “Camp Galaxy Day,” an annual program spearheaded by AGPA Community Outreach Co-Chair Dr. Suzanne Phillips. The award is offered in partnership with the Air National Guard 106th Rescue Wing for children of deployed Guard members at Gabeski Air Force Base in Westhampton Beach, New York and children of any military service parents in the New York area, to invite awareness of children’s resiliency as well as the value of working as a group, family and the larger military community.
This program exemplifies the broad span of AGPA’s community outreach programs and activities, which use the power of groups to benefit communities and society. This program could not have happened without the participation of graduate student volunteers from The Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at the CW Post Campus of LIU, many of whom are student members of the American Group Psychotherapy Association.

Thanks to all of our Volunteers – Dr. Phillips We will be going back to the 106th this August 14,2012 to host another Camp Galaxy
